Frequently Asked Questions
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people are surprised by how gentle acupuncture feels. The needles used are extremely fine, much thinner than those used for injections. You may feel a slight tingling, warmth, heaviness or a dull ache or nothing at all, which are all normal sensations. Many people find the treatment deeply relaxing and some even fall asleep during their session.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments depends on your condition, how long you've had it, and your individual response to treatment.
-
Acute conditions (such as a recent muscle strain) may improve within 4 treatments.
-
Chronic conditions often require 6–10 treatments or more.
After your initial assessment, we'll discuss a personalised treatment plan and provide an estimate based on your specific needs.
Is acupuncture covered by ACC?
Yes. We are an ACC Registered Acupuncture Provider.
If your injury is covered by ACC, you may be eligible for subsidised acupuncture treatment. If you're unsure whether you qualify, we're happy to explain the process and help you determine your eligibility.
What happens during my first appointment?
Your first visit usually takes around 60 minutes.
We'll begin by discussing your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and treatment goals. After a thorough assessment, we'll explain our findings, answer any questions, and provide your first acupuncture treatment if appropriate.
Our goal is to make sure you feel informed, comfortable and confident throughout the process.
